History

The Chapter, was created in 2016, as an initiative by a number of TCC members resident in the Barcelona area. The aim is to have a permanent forum to foster travel related discussions and relationships between the different members of the TCC, resident in the Mediterranean area countries. The Board of the International TCC accepted the idea with enthusiasm, because it was the first Chapter that combined different countries and languages.

From that date on our Chapter has been growing with new members, from Greece, Israel, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Portugal, Turkey and Ukraine, up to a number of 40, as well as from other regions in Spain. At the moment, up to 25 members have already participated in the meetings that we have been organizing regularly in Altafulla (Tarragona, Spain).

The Chapter took an active role in the organization of the TCC International meeting held in Barcelona during October 2018, where more than 60 TCC members from different continents met for many interesting discussions over the course of a long weekend.

In 2019, we went a step further in the consolidation of our Mediterranean Chapter, calling all the TCC members residents in the Mediterranean Area to participate in the First International Chapter Meeting that took place in the italian city of Bari where up to 20 Chapter’s members met.

The purpose of our meetings is to strengthen relations between travelers, promote the organization of common trips, as well as facilitate the transfer of information from our own travel experiences.

The MED Chapter meetings are characterized by:

  • Open spirit: Meetings are informal and always open to all those who have traveling spirit
  • Having a focus on Travel Literature, not in vain many of our meetings happen in a medieval building converted into a small private Museum dedicated to Medieval Manuscripts, which makes it a suitable place for the presentation of books
  • Presentation of first level travel experiences, thanks to the presence of great travelers who have shared their trips with the members of the Chapter
  • Singular gastronomy, which is complemented by the variety and richness of the Mediterranean wines, which facilitates the long evenings required by the informal exchange of traveling information

Please keep safe and traveling as much as possible!
